On Saturday morning, residents in Hawaii received an emergency alert saying that a ballistic missile was headed toward the island.
Understandably, people were panicking and running for shelter. There are videos of parents pulling off manhole covers and attempting to hide their children in the sewer. But the whole thing was a mistake and officials said that someone simply hit the wrong button at Hawaii's Emergency Management Agency.
Unfortunately, the text explicitly said that it wasn't a drill, and the retraction didn't go out for another 40 minutes. While most people found out much earlier via Twitter that it was a mistake, obviously, chaos ensued.
There was at least one man who, despite the warning of an inbound missile, didn't really care that much. He was in the middle of his golf game and pretty much decided that he was happy dying while doing something he loved!
Below, you can see the alert message that went out on Hawaii's local TV stations. Terrifying.
