When you go to the grocery store, do you check the expiration dates on things before you buy them? If you don't, you may want to start, based on what happened to this Colorado family recently.
On Monday while grocery shopping, the family purchased a box of Quaker 100% Natural Granola cereal from Walmart. The next day when they sat down for breakfast, they realized that something was a bit off. After looking at the expiration date, they noticed that the box of cereal was expired...by 21 years! Yup, that's right. The cereal expired in February of 1997! That didn't stop Josiah, the father, from eating an entire bowl of it, despite it tasting a little weird.
For reference, in 1997, Bill Clinton had just started his second term as President. Titanic
was a box office hit. And the Spice Girls were all the rage.
The news station reached out to Walmart for an explanation of how a 21-year-old box of cereal managed to make it on to the shelves, but they did not comment.
