Being one of the original 13 colonies, Massachusetts has been around for a long time and has seen its fair share of strange stuff. Most recently, a 68-year-old man found a 19th century cannonball. Cool, right? Well, how about we make things scarier by saying that the damn thing was still live!
Bruce Wescott buys and sells antiques and has a good time doing it. He says that it may take him years to go through just one box that he buys. One day while he was digging around in his shed, he found the 15 pound ball. He thought that it could be worth some big money, so he took it to a gun shop, hoping to get $1,000 for it. The owner said that he thought the cannonball was still live and that Wescott needed to leave the store immediately. Confused, Wescott the called police, who then told him to not touch it. Police and the bomb squad arrived to dispose of the sphere of death.
The neighborhood was evacuated just in case the bomb disposal guy sneezed while handling the object and the bomb squad detonated the cannonball in a landfill miles away.
