Some people just are NOT comfortable with using public restrooms. They cause all sorts of anxiety and trepidation. But for 69-year-old Fernando Elizarraras of Orlando, FL, it appears to be much, much worse than just anxiety.
back in 2012, Elizarraras was in a Walgreens store and went to use the restroom. On his way out of the store, a lawsuit filed by his late wife alleges that employees stopped him and physically forced him to go back into the restroom where he had apparently "had an accident" and left a mess. Fernando was then allegedly kept in the bathroom for 20 minutes where he had to clean up and mop.
The lawsuit filed claims that this incident caused so much emotional distress for Elizarraras that it actually killed him. However, it is unclear when he died, therefore, it may be difficult to prove if the bathroom incident and his death were related at all. Elizarraras' late wife is suing Walgreens for an undetermined amount of money and there is a standing offer to settle of $500,000.
