The mayor of a Minnesota town is up for re-election this year and polls are indicating that he'll win again in another landslide. What's unique about this mayor? Well, he's a dog named Duke. He's nearing the end of his second successful term as mayor and expecting to slide into a third unopposed.
Duke became mayor when only twelve people voted in the election and there was a mistake with write in votes.
"I don't know who would run against him," said one voter. "He's done such great things for the community."
We're no political scientists, but he's obviously doing something right. Maybe he'll get ambitious and try for higher office someday. That would give his future opponents pause, to be sure.
