Wally Whitworth, 96, got himself into a pretty bad wreck recently in northeast Melbourne but blames those dang pedals in today's automatic cars.
Whitworth was heading home from visiting his wife at the hospital when His Ford Fairlane sped across a busy street, flew over two parked cars, before crashing into the side of the hospital.
His explanation for what happened was that he went to hit the brakes and his foot slipped because the pedals are too close to each other.
"That's the stupidest bloody thing they've ever invented, putting two pedals an inch apart," said Wally.
He his healing up after spending days in the hospital with a fractured back and massive bruise on his leg but one thing that may not recover from this is his license.
Even at 96-years-old though, he is not ready to give up on driving! As much as he should really consider it....
