98-Year-Old Woman Evicted From Apartment After 50 Years (Video)

Imagine living in the same place for FIFTY YEARS and then being evicted.  That's just what happened to this 98-year-old woman in San Francisco last week.

The company that owns her building, Urban Green Investments, has recently bought a bunch of apartment buildings in San Francisco and has been evicting tenants by using the Ellis Act.  The Ellis Act basically states that landlords can evict tenants if they are getting out of the rental business.  Urban Green Investments is evicting tenants in many of their buildings, then turning around and selling the buildings for a profit.

Can't really blame them for making a profit off the building, but it's kind of a crappy method of doing so.  And 98-year-old Mary Phillips isn't going down without a fight.  Her lawyers are fighting the decision and trying to get it reversed so she can stay in her apartment that she's called home for five decades.
